5 Ways to Show Appreciation for Employees This Christmas Season

Every company has a Christmas party at the end of the year where employees come together to celebrate. Most employers take it as an opportunity to acknowledge and recognize employees for their exemplary performance by giving them awards and Christmas giveaways. But since big celebrations like parties have been put on hold because of the pandemic, we came up with fun and creative ways to let employees know how much they mean to the organization:

1. Employee Recognition

While it’s a nice gesture to thank employees for a job well done, there’s so much more than can be done to show appreciation for deserving employees. Acknowledge them in a great crowd or platform to show their valuable service amid the new normal. This can be done via a virtual ceremony that is accessible by a greater company audience, or by creating a special online feature, like through a Facebook or blog post, beyond the company and into a much greater external audience.

2. Donation to Chosen Charities or Beneficiaries

In the spirit of gift-giving, companies may select chosen beneficiaries that align with the company vision, mission, and values, and give employees the option to choose their beneficiaries. Another idea would be for the company to make a donation under an outstanding employee’s name so they can share the joy and fulfillment that gift-giving brings.

3. Opportunities for Learning

Another great way to show your support and empowerment to employees is to provide them learning opportunities to train their skills, especially with the new normal where a lot of online skills are in demand in various industries. There are a number of accredited learning centers that provide certifications that companies can tap, or they could also just hire experts to conduct online webinars to train employees.

4. Christmas year-end Bonus

Aside from the 13th month’s pay, it would mean a lot to employees if they receive a Christmas bonus from the company for their hard work. It may be given to employees who met company goals based on certain indicators, or other criteria that would merit their appreciation.

5. Tokens of Appreciation

When thinking of holiday gift-giving ideas for employees, tokens of appreciation is a great thoughtful gesture for them. It’s important to consider tokens of appreciation that are practical on the part of the company and at the same time employees would find both useful and helpful especially with the new normal affecting the working conditions of workers.
